The Cholera Crisis in Yemen: An Ongoing Emergency
As of 2025, Yemen continues to battle a severe cholera outbreak, exacerbated by ongoing armed conflict, displacement, and a lack of access to clean water and sanitation.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), between January 1 and May 25, 2025, there have been 18,286 reported cholera cases across several governorates in Yemen.
The WHO emphasizes that poor sanitation infrastructure and continuous conflict are key drivers behind the escalating outbreak.
How Your Support is Saving Lives
Thanks to your donations, our SYS team is working directly in the most affected areas—Sana’a and Taiz Governorates—implementing several life-saving initiatives:
- – Comprehensive Awareness Campaigns
We’ve conducted hygiene awareness drives, focusing on handwashing, safe water handling, and early treatment. Informational materials such as posters and leaflets have been distributed in public spaces. - – Oral Cholera Vaccination Campaigns
We’ve organized vaccination efforts in several locations. However, the need for vaccines still exceeds the available supply. - – Hygiene Kits Distribution
We have provided hygiene kits to 30 vulnerable individuals in Sana’a, equipping them with the tools needed to stay safe. - – IV Fluid Distribution
We continue to ensure access to life-saving intravenous fluids for patients in urgent need.
